Let Me Introduce Myself
I’ve been in K12 and higher education for thirty years as a school administrator, teacher, college professor, college & career counselor, and educational consultant. I specialize in working with students and young adults who are identified as gifted and talented, ADD/ADHD, twice exceptional, on the autism spectrum, and those with learning disabilities. Half of my career has been living or working closely with families in Alaska. I currently reside in Arizona but continue to have ties in Alaska.
Throughout my career, I have successfully worked with children and young adults who want to gain academic confidence, independence, and achievement in school and in the workplace. My professional aspiration is to help young people launch toward exciting and rewarding opportunities. I want young people to find their passion in life, gain a sense of accomplishment, and strive toward independent living. My primary goals for young people is to advocate for them, provide guidance, and to assist in navigating future opportunities so they can become independently successful in life. Moreover, I create a calm, comfortable, and collaborative working relationship with families, educational entities, and future employers. I have a broad range of experience in building executive functioning skills for adolescents and young adults, increasing study skills, setting academic and life skills goals, establishing time management strategies, and assisting individuals with underachievement and perfectionism tendencies. Additionally, I specialize in college and career counseling, developing educational goals relating to Section 504s and Individualized Education Plans, as well as navigating digital platforms schools used to communicate assignments and grades.
When not working in the educational arena, I enjoy spending time with my husband, my two children, and our dog. As a family, we enjoy hiking, kayaking, bicycling, and traveling. I am available to work with adolescents, young adults, and families in the evenings and weekends by appointment.
